Mars
Mars is named after the Roman god of love and agriculture. The gravity difference between it and earth is quite large. On Mars 70 pounds would be around 27 pounds. It appears to scientists that Mars was once full of streams and rivers. Because of the heat, they evaporated. The only water is frozen in icecaps or underground. It is now referred to as the red planet because it is covered in red rocks and dirt. The solar system’s biggest volcano, Olympus Mons, is located on Mars. It is around three times larger than Mount Everest. Mars also has the largest canyon. It is about the length of the distance between New York City and Los Angeles. Scientists have been sending a lot of technology to Mars, as it is the only planet with the chances of human life. There have been satellites sent up and people are planning a one-way mission to Mars.
