The Sun
The sun is a spherical star. It was born in a cloud of gas and dust approximately 5 billion years ago. For a few million years, the dust began to fall into the center of gravity. As it grew it became warmer. Once it had reached 1 million degrees the center (core) ignited and it caused a nuclear fusion. In the sun there are areas which are less warm then others and they are slightly darker then the rest of it. They are still fatal if you come too near. The sun is the biggest object in our Solar System. Its size causes the planets to orbit around it. The sun’s light takes eight minutes to reach the earth, as it is approximately 145 million kilometers away from earth. The moon is much closer so to us they appear the same size.
